Sonja Hoel Perkins, Managing Director

Sonja Hoel Perkins, Managing Director of The Perkins Fund, has been investing in “people and companies that matter” for over 30 years. Considered one of the best performing and most senior professionals in venture capital, Sonja has invested in several startups that have achieved multi billion dollar valuations including: The RealReal, Acme Packet, F5 Networks and McAfee Associates. Sonja began her career at TA Associates, joined Symantec, and then spent 22 years at Menlo Ventures. Sonja is the founder of Broadway Angels, an investment group made up of world-class investors and business executives who all happen to be women, and Project Glimmer, a national nonprofit that inspires every girl to envision and realize her empowered future. Sonja is a board member of Mercy BioAnalytics, Project Glimmer, The Pristine Mind Foundation, and The Center For Politics at the University of Virginia. She is also a member of the Maverick Collective, the C200, and Women Moving Millions. Sonja has been ranked among the “Top Most Powerful People in Global Finance” by Worth Magazine and has received multiple awards for her work with Project Glimmer. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Harvard Business School.

Adrian Dollard, Advisor

Adrian is a founder of Qatalyst. Adrian has 15 years investment banking experience. He worked previously in Credit Suisse's technology investment banking group and before that as a corporate attorney specializing in mergers and securities law with Shearman & Sterling. Adrian has extensive experience negotiating terms and transaction structures in technology merger transactions and has managed or participated in more than 100 merger & acquisition, public offering and private placement transactions. His clients have included Alcatel, BrocadeBrocade, Data Domain, GE, Google, NetLogic and Novartis.

Adrian received an A.B. and a J.D. with High Honors from Duke University. He sits on the Duke Law School Board of Visitors and is the former Vice President of the Board of Bay Area Community Resources, Inc., a $35 million social services agency. He also serves as CoChair of the California Legal Services Trust Fund Commission and is a Trustee of Regis High School. Adrian, his wife Anne and their three children reside in San Francisco.

Stacey Estrella, Advisor

Stacey has more than a decade of experience working with CEOs and their teams to articulate their company’s vision, develop powerful pitch decks and corporate narratives, and create and coach keynote presentations for public speaking engagements. She is currently the founder of Humanifesto Studios, a strategy + storytelling studio that partners with leaders to help them tell their stories, strategically and visually. 

Prior to founding Humanifesto Studios, Stacey was a Principal at SY/Partners where she helped CEOs and their teams discover and articulate their company’s purpose, vision and strategy, then craft the experiences to activate their audiences. 

She is a graduate of Stanford University and the Harvard Business School, and lives in the beautiful Hudson Valley, an easy train ride from Manhattan.

Julie Herendeen, Advisor

Julie is a business executive and CMO who has managed global businesses, launched and scaled multiple enduring technology brands, and is an active advisor and investor. Julie’s passion, across companies big and small, is working with teams to turn breakthrough technologies into lasting businesses that customers love. Currently, Julie is on the board of HubSpot and most recently led global business marketing at Uber. Previously, Julie led marketing at Dropbox, building the company’s first global marketing team, evolving the Dropbox brand to embrace the business customer, and scaling the SMB business to new levels of growth. Prior to Dropbox, Julie was the founding CMO at Lookout and Shutterfly and led product teams at Yahoo!, Netscape and Apple. Julie holds a BA in Economics from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard.

Magdalena Yesil, Advisor

Magdalena is a founder of Broadway Angels and the founding board member and first investor of Salesforce. She served on the board of Salesforce from inception to post IPO. Magdalena has been active in Silicon Valley for three decades. Most recently, she spent eight years as a general partner at the venture capital firm US Venture Partners (USVP), making investments in a broad spectrum of technology startups. She has been an early investor in over 30 companies including theRealReal, PicsArt, Zuora, Socialcast (acquired by VMWare), Catch (acquired by Apple), Freshplum (acquired by TellApart and Twitter), Dotomi (acquired by ValueClick), 3Ware (acquired by AMCC), WebAction, Valicert (IPO), 128Technology, Securify (acquired by Kroll), iEscrow (acquired by eBay), and many others. Prior to her investing career, Magdalena was a serial entrepreneur, founding two successful electronic commerce companies, CyberCash - a pioneer in the secure electronic payment systems (IPO), and MarketPay, an embedded payments software company. 

Magdalena was a pioneer in the commercialization of the Internet in its early days, helping it move out of the government and university domains and in establishing the infrastructure for e-commerce and financial transaction platforms. When her plan to purchase Internet access providers from universities would not get funded by venture capitalists, she joined UUnet (IPO), the first commercial Internet access provider. Magdalena was chosen Entrepreneur of the Year by Red Herring magazine. She started her career as a semiconductor design engineer at Advanced Micro Devices. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Industrial Engineering and Management Science and Engineering and an Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, all from Stanford University. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of RPX Corporation (Nasdaq:RPXC), Zuora and DriveInformed.

Leslie Santarina, Chief Operating Officer

Leslie Santarina is the Chief Operating Officer for Broadway Angels. In this COO role, she manages the daily operations, provides support for leadership, and oversees investor events. Leslie is also a professional photographer, a published author, and has an extensive background managing programs for financial institutions, women’s leadership groups, and creative organizations.

Tamara Thompson, Chief Counsel

Tamara Thompson is a California lawyer and English law advisor who works with venture capital, corporate and angel investors, start-ups as well as larger companies, individuals and law firms. Tamara and her team serve as external counsel to some clients and also support in-house legal teams. She is also an investor and has worked on thousands of venture capital and M&A transactions over the course of her career. Tamara earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Southern California (Finance and Business Economics) (1991) and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from Northwestern University (1994). She also founded Thompson Legal Advisory Services, P.C. in 2000.
